Job Description:

Are you a passionate researcher with a love of learning? Are you looking for paid experience in education, STEM or sustainability?

Spark-Y is hiring a Curriculum and Training (CAT) Apprentice to develop new educational materials and hands-on activities for K-8 students guided by Spark-Y’s Curriculum Manager. As a CAT Apprentice, you will explore a range of educational themes, such as biology, ecology, engineering, and coding. You will report to Spark-Y’s Curriculum Manager.

Job Responsibilities:  

  • Complete a two-week orientation and training period.

  • Research and develop new educational activities and materials.

  • Review previous lesson plans for revisions and organize within Spark-Y lesson library.

  • Assist with the creation of curriculum and materials for Spark-Y at-home STEM kits.

  • Test activities and ideas with team members and youth.

  • Attend meetings and provide progress updates with Spark-Y Curriculum Manager.

Eligibility:

  • 18-24 years in age.

  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.

  • Demonstrated organizational skills

Non-Essential Experience:

  • Knowledge or education in education, biology, sustainability, or agriculture.

  • Experience creating or presenting educational materials or content.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

Compensation: $500 stipend at the conclusion of training period and $15/hr after completion of training.

Certifications: Urban Agriculture Certification, Entrepreneurship Certification, and Hand and Power Tool Safety Certification.

Travel and expenses: Metro Transit Bus Pass upon request.
